In today’s fast-paced world, it’s ironic that a device called a slow cooker (also known as a crockpot) can actually help you save time! The slow cooker allows you to prepare the components of a meal before work or at some convenient time during the day. The cooking meal can then be left unattended while you get on with other things. The meal is planned so that it is ready at your regular dinner time.

So you’re not stuck doing labor intensive tasks over a stove, right at the end of the day when you are most tired and hungry!

The slow cooker is a very simple electric appliance: a tightly covered pot that cooks food at a low temperature for a long period of time. Many people think of one-pot recipes as being limited to stews or soups. The fact is just about anything can be cooked in a slow cooker! Meat entrees, soups, vegetarian, and even dessert!

Slow Cooker Tips

Get one with a removal pot. These can be lifted off the heating base and placed on the stove top. If you choose to, you can brown meats or sauté vegetables and there will be no extra dirty pans. You can also prepare the ingredients the night before, place the pot in the refrigerator and be ready to go the next morning.

Size - Slow cookers and crackpots come in different sizes ranging from 1.5 quarts to 7 quarts (1 quart = 4 cups). Choose one that is compatible with the size of your family.

Do a Test Run - Select a recipe and do a test run on a weekend when you’ll be around the house. This way, you can monitor the progress and note the amount of time your cooker needs. Most cookers have Low, Medium and High settings. Those settings will be at different temperatures, depending on the manufacturer. Even two different cookers from the same manufacturer might NOT require the same time for the same recipe.

Fill the slow cooker to 1/2 or 2/3 full only - If the cooker is too full, the food will not cook evenly.

Keep the lid on! - Every time you lift the lid, it can take up about 20 minutes to regain the lost heat, thus extending your cooking time.

Test for Doneness - Use a food thermometer to make sure that the meat and poultry have reached a safe internal temperature.

Christmas

Christ- Tis the real reason for the holiday to begin with. Thus it is also the first letter in the word. Remember why we are celebrating this holiday. It is easy to forget this with all the gifts and comercialism but we must remember this.

Happiness- Christmas is a happy time of year. I know I feel happier just by listening to Christmas music and by thinking about the holidays. Everyone else seems happier as well.

Red- one of the colors of Christmas. Red candles, red berries, red flowers, red ornaments, all kinds of red symbolizing Christ’s blood and his sacrifice for us.

Intent- at Christmas everyone has kind hearts and love for one another. Everyone seems to have good intentions at Christmas.

Smiles- Everyone smiles more at Christmas than at other times of the year. I smile just thinking about Christmas.

Together- families spend more time in one another’s company and many people seem to act more in unison.

Merry- Not only do we say Merry Christmas but hearts are merrier, and times seem merrier and brighter at Christmas.

Abundant- there is plenty of love and cheer for everyone. Those who have more share more. Everyone is in more of a giving mood and the williness to share with others of their abundance is more evident.

Sharing- Christmas is a time of giving not only of presents and material wealth but also of happiness, caring, and the Christmas spirit. Santa Clause himself is a symbol of the sharing and giving spirit of Christmas.

:arrow:   This is a true love story. I came home for lunch after coaching a client in the city today. Sitting at the café and decided to walk home. It’s about 1h walk. The sun was shining, perfect for walking.As I came home I put the porridge on the stove to cook. Put on the TV and said to my self only to watch when I was eating I have work to do! Sitting there with my porridge I saw a beautiful couple from Finland, 83 years old. They told us about the story when they met. Not an eye was dry I can tell you. The woman, Tullikki was living in Karelen. That’s far up north and next to the Russian border. Lasses, the man was patrolling as an Officer from the Finnish army. He was riding the bike and Tullikki thought he was so charming. They were having conversations about life and the war.

One day she decided to bake a cake for him as he was passing by her house. He was shy but thankful and asked for her address. He said he wanted to write to her from the war. They saw each other for three weeks and then he joins the war. He was writing regularly to her and she said that in one letter he wrote that he thought the war was three weeks left. Then it was over! It took five years! Lasses did not want to propose to Tullikki when he was in the war. He saw to much pain when the soldiers were killed and the others had to contact the new wife etc.

They kept contact through the letters but lost it after three years due to his transmissions. Tullikki met another man and got married. After the war Lasses met a wife and got married too. Tullikkis husband died fairly young so she became widowed early. Lasses wife died before him too. Tullikkis son’s wife was at a function in the city next to theirs. There was a gathering for veterans from the war.

She contacted the organisation and found where Lasses were at the time. Tullikki had told her about the teenagers love. When the daughter in law came home she passed on the telephone number to Tullikki who contacted Lasses immediately. After w week they came together again after 60 years! Wow! What emotions and thoughts came up?

They were happy. Smiling and giggling like they were young again. When Lasses was asked to tell the studio team about the first time he saw Tullikki he cried. He was so grateful and thankful to come together even this late in life. Just to end it with the love of my life!

Tullikki was taking care of him because he was injured in the war. The routine was the same everyday. Wake up and make him breakfast. Help him in the bathroom and place him at the table. Serving him and talking about the past, catching up so to speak. A lunch walk and shopping. Eating at the service house lunch or brunch. This is love.

In the afternoon coffee and cognac, order from the doctor. Reading the Time, dinner and then Lasses wanted to sleep by seven a clock. Tullikki said now she had her time to do what she loves most, crosswords!

After a month together again they decided to get married. It is never too late. When you know it is right you know. It is not about the age it is about love!

:arrow:  There have been a lot of research studies made about ugly people. When I say ugly people I don’t just mean ugly men, but also ugly women, even though they are trying very hard to hide the fact that they are ugly through make-up, cosmetics, clothing items and a lot more things similar to that. It is a very sad thing, but ugly men and ugly women are sometimes castaways of the society and a lot of them take refuge in books and other things like that which do not require any human contact. 

Because sometimes ugly people are excluded from social groups because of the way they look on the outside, they sometimes are withdrawn and you can earn their trust very hard. This makes some of them to be sad and not very fun to be around due to lack of communication. Others are afraid to try and make new friends, because they do not want to be rejected. However, there are many ugly people who are fun to be with, no matter the way they look like. They have a lot of friends, because they do not let the way they look on the outside to run their lives.

Though it is difficult, ugly men and ugly women can start their own families and live a happy, full life in spite of what they look like. I said it is difficult because the society we live in and the people in it can be full of prejudice, thus judging people first based on their looks, because this is the first thing they perceive. A lot of ugly people who are conscious about themselves, but are not stressed out about their looks, can manage any difficult situation without feeling embarrassed in the case of a negative answer and find the strength within them to overcome that situation and go after what they want in less complicated manners than most people.

Nowadays, ugly women find it easier to hide their looks behind a wall of cosmetic products. This is not always the best option for them, because it doesn’t always do the trick. Some men prefer to enjoy the company of a natural woman, and not a mask of cosmetics.

A good example about make-up addicts are movie stars who always seem to look their best using tons of make-up they have applied. Take down that layer and you will see the real person beneath, but there is no guarantee you will like that person. There are people that preoccupy themselves a little too much with the way they look making their good looks their main objective in life. You can engage in really interesting conversations with anyone who is not good looking. On the contrary, they might just be the opposite. Very good-looking persons might be found in situations where they have nothing to say. And it happens to them on a more frequent basis than it happens to ugly men and ugly women.

Though every person has potential, some more than others, few succeed in reaching their full possibilities. Withdrawn people are the ones who can make it in life far better than others, because they invest time and energy in things that can help them throughout their lives. If you sit and think about it, how many doctors or computer geniuses have you seen that are very good looking? I don’t want to say that all of the people who managed to fulfill a career dream in a field that requires more brains than looks are ugly. But those people were throughout their lives preoccupied by knowledge and didn’t think much of looking perfect for anybody else.

Now you shouldn’t be under the impression that all ugly men and women are smart and accomplished. Some of them are ugly, because they fail to take care of themselves and the way they look. Advertising of ugly people has been done over the internet over the years. This kind of pictures of really ugly men and ugly women has been displayed in order to show people all over the world how ugly can somebody be. Though they are not quite pleasant at first sight, some of them can make a person laugh.

Though ugly women can resort to make-up in order to better their looks, the majority of ugly men feel better than women when it comes to their looks because they don’t try to look perfect no matter what. That has always been the case with men and women. No matter how good a woman looks like, she always tries to look better. That is why men will generally feel more relaxed than women, at least to what concerns this issue
