Malaysia - Something for everyone: by John Foster
09/04/2008 by admin.
Malaysia is one of the best places to live, especially for senior citizens, there is so much to do that there is something for everyone, no matter what your interests and hobbies are.
I had a vision of Malaysia as a remote island in the south china sea with huts and palm trees, where the people just lived a sedate lifestyle fishing and farming and not much else sprang to mind. ( just shows how ignorant I was) but what a surprise at the way Malaysia has evolved and moved forward to be a developed forward thinking county in Asia.
Having lived here now for just under two years and I have a great respect for this country and it’s people, such a diverse group of mixed races and cultures, yet they live side by side in harmony.
And this shows everyday by the way you are greeted going out to the shops and stores, the sales staff really do want to help you, they smile even in the poorest shops in the Kampung they make me feel special.
If i had to put things into an order it would be:
- The People (Friendly and helpful)
- The Weather ( always between 25o and 30o)
- The Food (So many choices From the posh restaurants to the roadside seller (hawkers) are all good)
- The Infrastructure.( Coming from UK it’s great they drive left roads are good quality and well signed)
- The Beaches (Some of the best in the World without a doubt)
and so on.
No matter how you like to spend your days, you will be able to find activities in Malaysia that interest you. Malaysia is a great place to live and a great place to spend your golden years.
They even have a programme to help you stay in the country for ten year renewable visa, its called the MM2H Programme www.MM2H.com.my aimed primarily at the retires as your money goes a lot further in Malaysia, without giving up on quality such as:
- Malaysia has one of the highest standards of living in the region with all the modern infrastructure and facilities in place.
- Cost of living is one of the lowest in Asia and will remain so for a very long time. This is achieved through the Government’s efficient monitoring of the economy in ensuring that inflation is kept low at all times and thereby also the prices of goods and services.
- The weather is pleasant, warm and balmy with moderate rain throughout the year. There are also highland residential areas and resorts with permanent spring-like weather throughout the country.
- The whole country is very well connected with up-to-date, modern road, rail, air and sea transportation systems. Public transport by buses, taxis, trains and planes are comfortable, efficient and relatively low in cost.
- The ruling Government is the longest serving freely elected Government in the world. It is a Government representing all the races, religions, cultures etc. found in Malaysia. In fact, Malaysia is one of the most politically stable countries in the world.
- The rule of law is one of the fundamentals in Malaysia’s constitution. Everyone is subjected to the law and also equal before the law. Malaysia practices basically the British system of justice with an independent reliable and dependable judiciary.
- Statistics can proof that Malaysia is one of the safest countries in the world, its crime rate is relatively low.
- Islam is the official religion of Malaysia but the constitution guarantees the right of people to practice other religions
- The Malay language (Bahasa Malaya) is the national language of the country; English is the second language but other languages can be freely used and practiced. Similarly the Malay culture is dominant in the country because the Malays are the dominant race in Malaysia and in the region. But other cultures can be practiced very freely.
Getting around Malaysia is a real treat on the eyes.

Dive, Dive, Dive! Scuba Diving is Fun for Everyone: By Steve Dolan
25/09/2007 by admin.
Everybody knows what scuba diving is; it is the diver with the air tank on his back and a mouthpiece. The basic scuba set-up is a tank of compressed oxygen on the diver’s back, with a line to a mouth piece. The oxygen is delivered through a mouth piece, allowing the diver to breath. Your carbon dioxide is then either released into the water, or, in self-contained systems or rebreathers, back into the tank. Few people actually know that scuba stands for something, however. The word ‘scuba’ is actually an acronym for “Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus”. Scuba diving is, of course, different from unassisted diving. The history of scuba is quite recent. The biggest advance on the path to scuba diving came in the 16th century, when people started using diving bells to pump air from the surface to people underwater. Needless to say, things have advanced a fair bit since then, although the diving bell remained an important method for centuries. Scuba diving as we know it really came together during and after World War II.
Why is scuba diving such a popular sport?
It is hard to think of a sport or hobby more exciting or rewarding than scuba diving. First off, scuba diving gives you access to underwater life in a way nothing else can. The vast majority of the world is underwater and waiting to be explored! When you scuba dive, you become one of the few people to have ever ventured into this exotic world to any degree. The world’s seas and oceans are some of the last few undiscovered places on our planet - that is why scuba diving is so awesome. There is also the fact that it can be absolutely beautiful under the water. If you have ever had the opportunity to go scuba diving off the coast of Australia along the Great Barrier Reef, you will know how amazingly gorgeous life under the sea can be. Scuba diving can even give you the chance to search for buried gold and treasure. From the Caribbean to the Mediterranean to the Great Lakes to the English Channel, there are countless shipwrecks waiting to be explored.
Risks associated with scuba diving
It should be noted that, despite being an amazing hobby or sport, scuba diving can be dangerous; after all, you are putting yourself under water and hooking your lungs up to a tube of air. If something goes wrong with your air or you become trapped, then you will experience obvious difficulties. The most common injury related to scuba diving is a result of changes in air pressure. As you go deeper underwater, the pressure around you increases. If the pressure becomes too much, you can rupture your eardrums or damage your sinuses. And if you come up from underwater too quickly, you can also get ‘the bends’, also known as decompression sickness.
How to become a scuba diver
Before getting into the water, it is important that you receive the proper certification from your national certification board to be a scuba diver. Indeed, many rental agencies will not rent you equipment without proof of certification.

A Guide To Finding Cheap Flights To Spain: By Robert Carlton
18/09/2007 by admin.
There are a few options for cheap flights Spain. There has been an increase in discount airlines in recent years. These airlines are flying to more airports in the country than in the past. You will have to give up some conveniences in exchange for the lower fare.
Finding Cheap Flights Spain
Discount airlines often stop in the United Kingdom when travelling from North America. Some of the discount carriers that offer flights to different areas of Spain include Easy Jet, Kyanair, German Wings, BMI Baby, Virgin Express, Jet 2, Monarch and Spanair. You may get direct flights from some European cities, but not from North America.
Discount airlines offer good fares to many destinations in Spain. Some of the airports with the best rates include Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia, Murcia, Menorca, Mallorca, Malaga, Seville and Palma. There is a greater choice of destinations from major airports in Europe than flying directly from the United States.
If you must have a direct flight from the United States, you will pay more for your ticket. Direct flights are only offered through large carriers at certain airports. You can find direct flights leaving from New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Houston and Newark. You may get lucky and find a bargain rate, but the fare won’t be as low as with discount carriers.
The cheapest flights will require at least one change of plane. From the United States, this will often be either in London or Dublin. The next stop will generally be Madrid, Barcelona or Alicante. These are the airports that have the cheapest fares.
Compare fares on the internet to find the best deal for your vacation. Check with different airlines to find the best rate. Some of the discount carriers are not listed on the major travel sites. You will need to contact these carriers directly.
Try different days of the week to find the cheapest flight. Often flights in the middle of the week are less expensive than on the weekends. Also, consider the time of day you are flying. Off peak hours, such as early morning or late at night are less expensive. This may seem like an inconvenience, but you will save money.
What You Sacrifice with Cheap Flights Spain
Cheap travel comes at a price. You will have to sacrifice some conveniences for your flight. Most of the discount airlines don’t offer food or even snacks on the plane. You may have to pay for something to drink on the airplane. Bring along a snack to eat on the plane. New regulations limit the liquids allowed on planes, so you are better off paying for a beverage on board.
Ask about the baggage allowances for cheap flights. These are sometimes more restrictive than with larger carriers. Most limit you to only two pieces of luggage at check in. Some charge a substantial amount for additional baggage. Ask about these limits at the time you book the flight and plan accordingly.
You will probably have to take care of your own baggage between flights. Most discount carriers don’t check your baggage through to your final destination. After each flight, you will need to claim your luggage. You will need to check it in for the next flight. This can be time consuming, so allow enough time between flights to take care of this.
The time between flights may not be ideal with cheaper carriers. You may end up waiting several hours in the airport for your next flight. This can be inconvenient, but again you will save money. Bring along a book or browse the shops in the airport between flights. Since food isn’t served, this is a good time to get something to eat.

Costa Blanca Property - Serene Yet Joyous: By Brittney Jackeline
04/09/2007 by admin.

Until the 1960s, what was simply a sleepy fishing village now boasts of housing more skyscrapers than any other city in Europe, except London and Milan. It is Benidorm that is referred to here and it comes under Costa Blanca Property. With the Gran Hotel Bali measuring 186 metres high, this mega resort attracts tourists from all across Europe in general, and Britain and Germany in particular.
Costa Blanca has not only Benidorm to arrest the attention of the rest of the world. Barring a few solitary places, the whole of this coastal region offer enough attractions to its visitors. Nowadays, Costa Blanca has such craze that people not only visit the place for a fortnight once or twice in a year; but they prefer to have their own share in the property there. They are buying properties or at least renting them.
In fact, Costa Blanca Property refers to the coastline that stretches over 200 kilometres in the Province of Alicante in Spain. When BEA launched their air service between London and Valencia in 1957, they adopted “Costa Blanca” as a promotional name. Now the ‘white coast’, as the name means, offers one of the best and most extensive ranges of tourist amenities in the world, thanks to its excellent climate and its cultural richness.
The sandy beaches and the rocky mountains of Costa Blanca Property along with the luxury apartments and designer golf courses offer a serene yet joyous living. The opulence of areas for leisure and entertainment made available by the opening of attractions like Terra Mítica, one of the most modern and eye-catching theme parks in Europe, further enhances the appeal of the place.
It is no wonder that a place like Costa Blanca will appeal to you so much that you would like to have your own share of property there. Obviously, you are not the only one who has such desires. A number of people from all around Europe wish to have an accommodation there. And it is the Costa Blanca Property agents that help these people live their lives the Spanish way.

Spanish Properties Offer All That a Designer Living Demand: By Brittney Jackeline
04/09/2007 by admin.

Spain can boast not only of its bullfights, flamenco dancers and beautiful beaches but also a number of other attractions. With its clement weather, friendly inhabitants, good accommodation, and gorgeous architecture, Spain offers more than what a peaceful and enjoyable living demands. It is because of this that thousands of Europeans rush to Spain not only to visit the country, but also to settle there permanently.
The north of Spain resembles the rolling, green hills of Ireland and the south gives you a taste of Moroccan landscapes and architecture. Spain is equally famous for its architecture. In fact, its prehistoric cave paintings, Moorish palaces, crumbling castles, Roman ruins, Gothic and Renaissance cathedrals and even the highly distinctive modern architecture reflect its traditions and history.
What make the country unique are the separate kingdoms which made up the original Spanish nation. The specialty is that the regions, though diverse in their language, culture, cuisine and art, are very much a part of the country. And its beaches! Well, any discussion on Spain will be insufficient without a reference to its beaches.
The country has some of the excellent beaches in Europe. Quiet and sandy beaches are plenty near Malaga, Huelva and Almería in the south as well as near the coasts of La Manga, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi. If crowded beaches are your choice, then you will have plenty on the Costa de la Luz and the Costa del Sol.
This craze for the country has given birth to a full-grown market that deal in Spanish properties. Property dealers offer services to all those who want to buy, sell, rent or lent property in this spectacular and diverse country. Whoever is interested in Spanish properties can go through them. They are plenty in number and easily accessible as most of them have online presence.

Top 5 Resorts in Los Cabos, Mexico: By Timothy Scott
05/08/2007 by admin.

At the luxury end of the scale, the Los Cabos region has several world-class resorts that are fixtures on annual best-of lists. Here are the five top resorts where you can’t go wrong, according to the upscale review site Luxury Latin America.
One and Only Palmilla
This resort sits on 250 acres of a 900–acre community, which includes private residences and a 27–hole Jack Nicklaus golf course. Its ten categories of luxury accommodations range from large oceanfront superior rooms to 12 beachfront one–bedroom luxury suites at 1,400 square feet. The beach here is swimmable, which is not always a given on this rocky coast.
Las Ventanas al Paraiso
Las Ventanas set the tone for a new standard for Los Cabos when in opened in the nineties. With international billionaires and tabloid celebrities guests among its guests, privacy and specialized service is ingrained into the culture of the staff. With a Robert Trent Jones golf course, a highly acclaimed spa, and a bevy of butlers at the ready, this resort is still hard to top.
The Hotel at Esperanza
With only 50 casitas and six luxury suites, this boutique resort is laid out like a private Mexican village. Spread across 17 lushly landscaped acres, the oceanfront hotel is perched on the bluffs of Punta Ballena (Whale Point) above two secluded coves on the Sea of Cortez, creating a natural barrier exclusive to registered guests. Accommodations range from 925 to 4,700 square feet, all facing the sea.
Marquis Los Cabos
With a 15,000-square-foot spa, stunning infinity pool complex, and rooms with great views, this is a great spot for taking in the dramatic scenery of Los Cabos. It is also the most Mexican-feeling resort around, with all interior design and décor items sourced locally. Public spaces are filled with an extensive art collection featuring 400 commissioned oil paintings and bronze sculptures featuring many notable Latin American artists.
Hilton Los Cabos
Under the same ownership as the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, this above-average chain hotel is coming off a major renovation, to the tune of $15,000 per room. Rooms range from large to larger and are now equipped with plenty of goodies like flat-screen TVs and marble baths with separate showers and whirlpool tubs. Stunning views are a given from most areas of the hotel and the draped lounge beds and draped palapas by the pool and swimming beach add more drama.

Sport Fishing In Alaska - A Splashy Dream: By Kayla Marie
05/08/2007 by admin.

Well, then perhaps you should try sport fishing in Alaska! Do you dream of catching that record breaking trout?
Want to reel in a fish that will feed your entire family? Wish you could put up a shiny fishing trophy on that bare wall? It is all possible in the world of sport fishing.
Although 400 pound halibut and 80 pound salmon are rare, they do exist. For most fishermen (and fisherwomen) they will leave satisfied with the catch that they did stumble upon. After all, you are in Alaska… home to some of the best fishing in the country.
When sport fishing, there are a couple things to keep in mind. First of, above all else, remember to obtain a fishing license before you even drop your line.
Without a license, you can get in big trouble and losing the “big one” won’t be your only concern. After you have your license, you can either enter a sport fishing contest where all contestants fish a specific location and the one with the biggest fish or most fish wins. If you are not interested in entering a contest then you’re all set.
Just pick a location, decide on which type of fish you want to find, and cast out, young angler. If you’re looking for something a little more exciting then find a contest, understand the rules and regulations, and then you are also on your way. Either decision you make will insure sport fishing in Alaska is a highlight of your trip.
Some of the best spots for sport fishing in Alaska are the Kenai Peninsula, Bristol Bay, Kodiak, Prince William Sound, and the Upper Copper area.
Each of these areas offers different types of fish and different living conditions. The most popular types of fish to catch are rainbow trout, halibut, silver salmon, king salmon, and lingcod.
Sport fishing in Alaska is a grand experience if done right. Some private fishing docks have guides to accompany you on your trip into the Alaskan waters.
So, when the 400 pound halibut comes swimming in, you will be ready. Alaska’s waters are full of fish for the catching and sport fishing in Alaska is a great way to do that!
Enjoy the Alaskan waters as you reel in a big one!

Las Vegas Myths: By Johnny Moon
05/08/2007 by admin.

What people don’t stop to think about is that Las Vegas is simply a town just like any other. They have schools, government offices, grocery stores, parks, all the normal features that every single town in America has. If one were to visit Las Vegas and venture off of the strip, they’d find a town with normal people going about their everyday business.
It’s said that prostitution is legal in Las Vegas. This is probably a popular notion due to the exhibitionist nature of the town with all the shows featuring nude showgirls. Vegas is also famous for their quickie wedding chapels and thousands of hotels. Go into any casino and you’ll find beautiful women in sexy clothes. Nevertheless this is all part of the Vegas image. Prostitution is illegal and people do get arrested for solicitation in Vegas.
The Hoover Dam is a huge construction that took five years to build and used four million plus cubic yards of concrete. It was a massive feat of engineering. During the building of this dam almost a hundred workers lost their lives. The rumor circulating is that some of their bodies remain buried in the concrete still. The truth is, the concrete was poured in small increments and allowed to dry before pouring the next batch. If anyone were to have fallen into the wet concrete, they would have been easily pulled out.
Due to the idea of Las Vegas being all casinos, hotels and shows, people tend to get the idea that every Vegas resident lives and works on the strip. Women here are all strippers and gorgeous. In actually, this couldn’t be further than the truth. While many of the residents may have jobs on the strip, they clock in and out and go home to their normal subdivisions in surrounding areas. Still others hold down jobs in schools, grocery stores and government offices and may rarely venture onto the strip. The women living here are normal looking just like the women in any other American town.
Once a woman who won a huge jackpot at the “Megabucks” slot machine experienced a tragic accident mere weeks after her winning and became paralyzed. Since that time a rumor has circulated that everyone who won a major jackpot at the Megabucks slot machines encountered a tragedy of sorts immediately afterwards. Even though the winners are alive and happy today, the rumors persist that they have died or have experienced some horrible incident.
Another myth includes bodies being found in a hotel’s box springs. There’s no proof or evidence that this ever happened in Las Vegas. It did, in fact, happen in some small town over on the east coast of the US. Somehow this incident ended up in Las Vegas as the rumor circulated.
As incredulous as this sounds, there’s even a rumor that kidneys get stolen in Vegas. Apparently someone started a story of a man who awakened in a hotel room one morning to a note that advised him to call 911 or else he would experience dire circumstances. The man supposedly did so only to be told by the doctors that he was missing a kidney.
Las Vegas is quite a colorful place with a crazy present and an even more raucous past. One can be sure to hear some interesting tales about this city. Just remember to take everything you hear about Las Vegas with a little bit of caution and amusement and know that outside of the Strip, Vegas is just a normal town with ordinary people going about their business.

All Inclusive Cruise Ship: Advantages and Disadvantages: By Alex Fir
28/07/2007 by admin.

All inclusive cruise ship is a ship where just about everything is included. The cost of your drinks, food, and entertainment are often taken care of. Many people wonder whether or not they you should book reservations aboard a traditional cruise ship or an all inclusive cruise ship.
There are many advantages and disadvantages to an all inclusive cruise ship.
The biggest advantage is that the majority of your needs are taken care of. Most all inclusive cruises cover food, drinks, and entertainment. If you plan to drink a large amount of alcohol or feasting on the amazing onboard food, you may be able to do so free of charge. You may also be granted exclusive admittance into movie theatres and video arcades.
While many of your food and drinks are included in an all-inclusive package, not all are. It is possible that you may be required to pay for your alcoholic beverages. There are some cruise ships where alcohol beverages are included in the package, but on others it is not.
When it comes to food, your food at a sit-down restaurant may be provided free of charge, but your snacks are typically not covered. This often includes snacks or small meals purchased at onboard specialty shops and vending machines. You can save money by brining your own snacks onboard, if the cruise ship allows it.
Entertainment is often included in an all inclusive cruise ship package. As with food and drinks, the entertainment is often limited. It is likely that you will gain free admission into a dance or ball, but you will not be able to gamble free of charge.
To find out whether or not you will save money aboard an all inclusive cruise ship, you should estimate your cost of food, drinks, and entertainment aboard a traditional cruise. By comparing the two, you can determine which cruise package offers the better deal.

The Perks of Owning Entertainment Credit Cards: By Morgan Hamilton
28/07/2007 by admin.

However, the card holder has to pay the full balance within 30 to 60 days. Otherwise, an unpaid balance will be reported negatively to the card holder’s credit report and he or she will incur large fees on the account. The car holder’s account will also be cancelled in case of failure to pay the balance in full. Fortunately, large purchases may be given an extension that can be paid out over the course of a few months. Charges that are related to travel are usually allowed a thirty six month grace period. However, the interest rate of entertainment credit cards is rather high and is usually between nineteen and twenty percent.
People also refer to these cards as charge cards. Entertainment credit cards include exclusive credit cards such as, American Express and Diners Club. These cards hold far more buying power than Visa or MasterCard, even if they may not be as widely accepted. A card holder can also enjoy many additional benefits apart from credit with entertainment credit cards. Some cards offer insurance, catalogues, cash advances and other benefits.
People with perfect credit and earn over $100,000 per year have the best chances of getting entertainment credit cards. Credit card companies can trust these people to pay off their balance per the terms and they also have enough money to pay if they should default. Since entertainment credit cards are on the elite group of credit cards, they are difficult to get and cardholders have to keep their accounts in order. They have to remember that credit card companies report quickly to the credit agencies and also send accounts to a collection agency.
