Malaysia - Something for everyone: by John Foster
09/04/2008 by admin.
Malaysia is one of the best places to live, especially for senior citizens, there is so much to do that there is something for everyone, no matter what your interests and hobbies are.
I had a vision of Malaysia as a remote island in the south china sea with huts and palm trees, where the people just lived a sedate lifestyle fishing and farming and not much else sprang to mind. ( just shows how ignorant I was) but what a surprise at the way Malaysia has evolved and moved forward to be a developed forward thinking county in Asia.
Having lived here now for just under two years and I have a great respect for this country and it’s people, such a diverse group of mixed races and cultures, yet they live side by side in harmony.
And this shows everyday by the way you are greeted going out to the shops and stores, the sales staff really do want to help you, they smile even in the poorest shops in the Kampung they make me feel special.
If i had to put things into an order it would be:
- The People (Friendly and helpful)
- The Weather ( always between 25o and 30o)
- The Food (So many choices From the posh restaurants to the roadside seller (hawkers) are all good)
- The Infrastructure.( Coming from UK it’s great they drive left roads are good quality and well signed)
- The Beaches (Some of the best in the World without a doubt)
and so on.
No matter how you like to spend your days, you will be able to find activities in Malaysia that interest you. Malaysia is a great place to live and a great place to spend your golden years.
They even have a programme to help you stay in the country for ten year renewable visa, its called the MM2H Programme www.MM2H.com.my aimed primarily at the retires as your money goes a lot further in Malaysia, without giving up on quality such as:
- Malaysia has one of the highest standards of living in the region with all the modern infrastructure and facilities in place.
- Cost of living is one of the lowest in Asia and will remain so for a very long time. This is achieved through the Government’s efficient monitoring of the economy in ensuring that inflation is kept low at all times and thereby also the prices of goods and services.
- The weather is pleasant, warm and balmy with moderate rain throughout the year. There are also highland residential areas and resorts with permanent spring-like weather throughout the country.
- The whole country is very well connected with up-to-date, modern road, rail, air and sea transportation systems. Public transport by buses, taxis, trains and planes are comfortable, efficient and relatively low in cost.
- The ruling Government is the longest serving freely elected Government in the world. It is a Government representing all the races, religions, cultures etc. found in Malaysia. In fact, Malaysia is one of the most politically stable countries in the world.
- The rule of law is one of the fundamentals in Malaysia’s constitution. Everyone is subjected to the law and also equal before the law. Malaysia practices basically the British system of justice with an independent reliable and dependable judiciary.
- Statistics can proof that Malaysia is one of the safest countries in the world, its crime rate is relatively low.
- Islam is the official religion of Malaysia but the constitution guarantees the right of people to practice other religions
- The Malay language (Bahasa Malaya) is the national language of the country; English is the second language but other languages can be freely used and practiced. Similarly the Malay culture is dominant in the country because the Malays are the dominant race in Malaysia and in the region. But other cultures can be practiced very freely.
Getting around Malaysia is a real treat on the eyes.

Mother’s Day by John Foster
18/02/2008 by admin.
Mother’s day (March 2nd) is next in line for this year’s celebration. and makes me remember my mother and her life in which she gave so much to her family and friends, and touched the hearts of all she met, you see it’s not about being rich in life but having richness in your life.
And sharing the goodness within you that makes you special, and my mother had this in abundance, as I suspect do so many other mothers out there that will be descended upon by the children to say thanks for being there when they need her.
So how do we show our appreciation - Well in modern times the Card plays a big part, but this year do something special and make your own.
It’s not so hard as most people will know someone with a printer all you have to do is make it personal to your mother, try a 3 d card this involves sticking layers of card onto the front and building it up in layers. Flowers are good for this, I even used real ones but im sure you can come up with designs relevant to your mother.
Then of course the biggest time for the flower and plant industries and over the years you can now get a really nice display for less than ten pounds.
So go on do your best to say that special thank you because let me tell you, you only have one mother. and when they are gone they are gone but, you can still show your appreciation, for me I just close my eyes on mothers day and remember all the family get together and how mum and dad was the centre of our lives so happy together just having the children around them was enough to make them happy.
I have a little cry and then I am thankful for receiving that goodness from both mum and dad that made me the person I am today.
God bless Mums and Dads all over the world.

Getting Old vs. Getting Older :By Jeff Herring
28/01/2008 by admin.
I was speaking today at a conference for foster parents, and got into a conversation with a woman who has 9 foster children. I mentioned that she must have a whole lot of energy. She said she just hopes she never gets old.
One the many things that struck me about the conversation was that there is a great deal of difference between getting old and getting older.
Getting old means losing your zest for life . Getting older is going to happen as the years add up. One is inevitable and the other is not.
How to get old
Here are some ways that I have observed in which people can get old:
Hardening of the references - Don’t confuse me with anything new or a different way of looking at things.
Seven last words - The seven last words spoken before someone gets old are
“I’ve always done it this way before.”
Less laughter - I’ve heard it said that we don’t stop laughing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop laughing.
How to get older
Learn from life and it’s experiences - If you are the exact same person as you were 20 years ago, then I would suggest that you have wasted 20 years.
Laugh - Laugh often: at yourself especially.
Learn from those that have gone before - Others have gotten older before us. It amazes me how so often we do not take advantage of the opportunity to “sit at the feet” of those older and wiser.
Grow old or grow older - it’s up to you.

The Big 50 : by John Foster
21/01/2008 by admin.
Well it’s fast approaching, in fact the 27th I shall be 50. When I was young a person the age of 50 seemed so old, but now I have arrived it’s not that bad actually, in fact being fifty i think will be OK.
Luckily I’m still of good health and have a great family for support and love.
Of course I’m looking forward to being 60 then 70 and so on, in fact I only celebrate them with a 0 at the end.
I still get out playing sports like golf, swimming, gym, 2km walk every morning, lucky to have sunshine nearly every day and live close to the sea.
Over the Hill expressions no longer fits the age.
So if like me you are turning 50 raise a glass and toast to the future, after all today is the first day of the rest of your life, so what you do from now will determine the outcome.
AND ITS THE YEAR OF GOLD - hint hint hope I get lots of gold presents.
Do I feel old? NO WAY

You know you’re 50 when –
on your second honeymoon, you tip the bellhop to carry her across the threshold.
you wonder how Mick Jagger stays so thin.
you drop off your dry cleaning at the post office.
‘performance anxiety’ refers to golf.
your children earn salaries, not allowances.
you’re still able to recall where you left your keys, but not what they unlock.

What’s New about Turning 50 and 50th Birthday Gifts?: By Janet Smith
21/01/2008 by admin.
Once a upon a time turning fifty was the welcome sign to the senior citizen community. Now thanks to health care improvement and education turning fifty is not as bad as it was even a decade ago. Choosing 50th birthday gifts is changing as well.
Those in their fifties are now more active than ever before. It’s been said that the fifty’s is now like turning forty was just a few years ago. If activity level and interest are any measurement, the researchers are right. The fifty year old of today is still full of energy and has lots of activities.
Choosing 50th birthday gifts is now much like choosing a gift for any other middle aged person. Even saying middle aged doesn’t quite measure up to what being fifty is all about today. Many people in their fifties are still raising kids, going to work as usual, and some are even changing careers. The 50th birthday gifts they want and need are much like those of any other adult.
Entertaining, convenient, and portable are the “go” words for great 50th birthday gifts. Add a bit of nostalgia to the mix and you have a great combination for the 50th birthday gifts. Digital music, videos, and photos are all the rage for every age group. A portable mp3 player loaded with nostalgic music from the 60’s and 70’s would be one of many great 50th birthday gifts.
Another popular area for this age is also home fitness tools and equipment. Again, these middle aged adults know how important it is to stay fit and healthy to help prevent the signs and pains of aging. If your birthday person is into fitness a there are lots of compact fitness tools and equipment to tone, firm, and help maintain a youthful body. You can find a multi-function flex gym that will give almost every muscle in the body a workout…all from the comfort of home.
After the workout it’s time to shower right? Try a total spa shower organizer. This shower panel comes complete with handheld and stationary multi-function showerheads and shelving. Makes a great addition to the 50th birthday gifts list.
If you’re looking for something a bit more restful maybe a turntable with a CD player would make a great selection from your 50th birthday gifts list. It can play all the old 45’s 33’s and even 78 records from days gone by.
Choices for 50th birthday gifts should include something useful, unique and memorable. Sure you may want to include a gag gift or two, but be sure to let the person turning fifty know that you’re thrilled they’ve lived half a century. Help them celebrate with stylish technology and trends to help them live another fifty.

Slow Cooker Meals - Convenient and Delicious!by:Toby Ling
18/01/2008 by admin.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s ironic that a device called a slow cooker (also known as a crockpot) can actually help you save time! The slow cooker allows you to prepare the components of a meal before work or at some convenient time during the day. The cooking meal can then be left unattended while you get on with other things. The meal is planned so that it is ready at your regular dinner time.
So you’re not stuck doing labor intensive tasks over a stove, right at the end of the day when you are most tired and hungry!
The slow cooker is a very simple electric appliance: a tightly covered pot that cooks food at a low temperature for a long period of time. Many people think of one-pot recipes as being limited to stews or soups. The fact is just about anything can be cooked in a slow cooker! Meat entrees, soups, vegetarian, and even dessert!
Slow Cooker Tips
Get one with a removal pot. These can be lifted off the heating base and placed on the stove top. If you choose to, you can brown meats or sauté vegetables and there will be no extra dirty pans. You can also prepare the ingredients the night before, place the pot in the refrigerator and be ready to go the next morning.
Size - Slow cookers and crackpots come in different sizes ranging from 1.5 quarts to 7 quarts (1 quart = 4 cups). Choose one that is compatible with the size of your family.
Do a Test Run - Select a recipe and do a test run on a weekend when you’ll be around the house. This way, you can monitor the progress and note the amount of time your cooker needs. Most cookers have Low, Medium and High settings. Those settings will be at different temperatures, depending on the manufacturer. Even two different cookers from the same manufacturer might NOT require the same time for the same recipe.
Fill the slow cooker to 1/2 or 2/3 full only - If the cooker is too full, the food will not cook evenly.
Keep the lid on! - Every time you lift the lid, it can take up about 20 minutes to regain the lost heat, thus extending your cooking time.
Test for Doneness - Use a food thermometer to make sure that the meat and poultry have reached a safe internal temperature.

The Good Approach To Male Six Pack Abs: by Paolo Basauri
06/11/2007 by admin.
Men, are you taking the good approach when you are trying to get male six pack abs?
What you first need to realize is that is more than making abs exercises. In fact, you can do hundreds of repetitions of abs exercises a day, and still look fat. Why? Because getting great abs is way more than just doing crunch style exercises. You must also:
-Change your diet.
-Do cardio.
-Take care of your overall health.
Also, the idea of getting male six pack abs can be a little deceiving, because there’s a genetic factor to the whole idea of “six pack abs”. Some people never get this kind of definition, if not for certain periods of time. Do you think models have a six pack all the time? Or body builders? Well, then you are wrong because they always do a diet specifically for a contest or photo shoot. Most body builders look fat when they are not preparing for competition.
So, there are some key point you must need to do to get a nice flat and defined stomach (which not only means it will have the ripped six pack abs):
1. Do a lot of Cardio. Interval training is great to lose weight, what this means is that if you are running, you run a minute with your full capacity and four minutes with your normal capacity. Cardio is running, jumping rope, swimming, hiking, climbing - anything aerobic. This training will also take care of your body as a whole. Cardio is the best six pack abs exercise.
2. Reduce fat and sugar levels. Can’t be any simpler. Sugar is really bad it doesn’t have any nutritive benefit to us and it is addictive. (Why don’t you think even some salty products have sugar?) Do this slowly cause I know it can be hard.
3. Have Patience. If you are serious about having six pack abs, then you know it is a matter of time and a change of lifestyle. Don’t try to push things too hard, or you’ll risk getting frustrated and quitting at any opportunity. Everybody knows about yo-yo diets, they are not only useless, but can also bring serious consequences to your health.

Mens Wide Shoes - Your Personal Guide: By Dean Iggo
30/08/2007 by admin.
Shoes are probably one of the hardest items to pick out – there is no shoe size that fits all and two people with the same shoe size can’t necessarily invest in the same pair of shoes, so if you’re interested in mens wide shoes, here is a guide to picking out the perfect pair.
First of all, it’s important that you not only consider the width of the shoe that is necessary for you, but you must also look ahead and determine precisely what activities you plan to engage in with your mens wide shoes. Are you very athletic or do you simply enjoy a game of golf every now and then? Maybe you just want a plain casual pair of mens wide shoes or maybe you man a large boat and need a special pair of shoes that are not only wide but especially designed for boaters! Purchasing your mens wide shoes really is a personal and important experience! And every detail counts – for example, do you want a shoe with velcro?
So as you can tell, even though you’ve narrowed down your shopping to “mens wide shoes,” the options are still almost overwhelming. Here are some examples of what the specific shoes you could be looking at the shoe store: mens size 14 extra wide athletic shoes, mens 27 extra wide width shoes, mens extra wide velcro shoes, extra large wide mens shoes, mens27s casual shoes extra wide eee 3e, mens extra wide golf shoes, etc! The list goes on and on. From terms like “eee” to “3e,” you will have to get into the loop if you don’t want to miss out on the right pair of mens wide shoes. (The “e” refers to the widths of the shoes.)
As you continue looking for mens wide shoes, you may find that there are only a handful of mens 27 extra wide width shoes manufacturers. Mens shoes, extra wide, are already a niche product to an extent, so getting a more specialized kind like mens extra extra wide width mens shoes, may not be a walk in the park! But don’t worry, as long as you understand the terminology and what you’re looking for, you can use the Internet to help you on your search.
