Sailing Schools by:By Marcus Peterson
05/03/2008 by admin.
Are you raring to experience the adventure of a lifetime? Does the idea of sailing your own boat across the blue sea into the horizon with only the power of the wind and your sailing skills to guide you excite you? Are you up to the challenge of sailing? If your answer is yes, then you should consider enrolling at a sailing school to hone your skills as well as to learn the fundamental techniques and maneuvers you need to become a sailor.
Many people say that sailing is actually a very easy sport to learn. Even if you don’t have previous experience sailing, you can enroll at a sailing school to learn the skills and the techniques of a good sailor. Getting in a sailing school will ensure that you get standard skills. There are many sailing schools in most coastal areas equipped with boats and manned by instructors who can turn a beginner into a skipper.
Sailing schools provide a more systematic way of learning how to sail. Before enrolling, inquire about their programs, the types of boats they have, how long the lessons will take, and what certifications the schools offer. You can also ask about the flexibility of their schedules. The type of boats the schools have should also be considered. You can learn the basics faster on a small boat before moving on to bigger boats.
Sailing schools can range from those that are run by private individuals to those that are nationally recognized and accredited. You can ask around and look up a sailing school nearest to your area. Some sailing schools have also established their presence on the web so you can check that out too. Learning how to sail has to start somewhere, and a sailing school is the perfect place to learn and love sailing.

St Patrick’s Day : by John Foster
01/03/2008 by admin.
St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on March 17th, is the Christian feast day which celebrates St. Patrick’s life.
How fast time is moving on, a lesson we must all learn - Time waits for no one.
So you need to make the most of your time here on earth, and let’s face no one has a better time than the Irish all over the world on St Pat’s day .
To me this is a great time for spending with your family and friends, sharing tales and stories of the family’s past.
Have a party and just enjoying ones self. Not forgetting of course that the day is a public holiday in both the
The day is usually marked by parades around the world and Irish people around the world celebrate their roots and their culture. (But even if you’re not Irish there will be a welcome there for you)

Christmas- A Definition: By Annalaura Brown
18/12/2007 by admin.
Christmas
Christ- Tis the real reason for the holiday to begin with. Thus it is also the first letter in the word. Remember why we are celebrating this holiday. It is easy to forget this with all the gifts and comercialism but we must remember this.
Happiness- Christmas is a happy time of year. I know I feel happier just by listening to Christmas music and by thinking about the holidays. Everyone else seems happier as well.
Red- one of the colors of Christmas. Red candles, red berries, red flowers, red ornaments, all kinds of red symbolizing Christ’s blood and his sacrifice for us.
Intent- at Christmas everyone has kind hearts and love for one another. Everyone seems to have good intentions at Christmas.
Smiles- Everyone smiles more at Christmas than at other times of the year. I smile just thinking about Christmas.
Together- families spend more time in one another’s company and many people seem to act more in unison.
Merry- Not only do we say Merry Christmas but hearts are merrier, and times seem merrier and brighter at Christmas.
Abundant- there is plenty of love and cheer for everyone. Those who have more share more. Everyone is in more of a giving mood and the williness to share with others of their abundance is more evident.
Sharing- Christmas is a time of giving not only of presents and material wealth but also of happiness, caring, and the Christmas spirit. Santa Clause himself is a symbol of the sharing and giving spirit of Christmas.

Skateboarding Tricks and Tips: By Chris Angelo
25/09/2007 by admin.
Skateboarding is a fascinating and fun sport that is growing rapidly. To help you get the most from skateboarding, below are a few tricks and tips that can be very useful.
Here are a few skateboarding tips to get you started.
• Overcome the fear of having your back face the transition
• Learn how to stall properly
• Learn how to gain momentum
• Never let your edge wheels hang up
Here is a list of some of the most popular tricks.
• Stall
• Backside 50-50 on transition
• Frontside 50-50 on transition
• Frontside 5-0 on transition
• Ollie
• Kickflip
• Kickflip nose manual
One of the first things that a skateboarder needs to learn is how to stall. This needs to be done before you attempt to move on to other tricks. Stalling helps you to get familiar with your weight placement which aids in other tricks. Once you have accomplished this move you are ready to move on.
To perform a stall start off with a good amount of speed and as soon as the trucks on the back of the skateboard reaches the coping turn and make your heel edge wheel roll onto the top of the coping. Put your weight over the heel edge to help you get up on top of the coping. Once you have accomplished this, continue by setting your front truck down and finish off the stall by dropping back in, lift up your front truck then kickturn into a tranny. Avoid hang ups by putting weight on the toe edge.
The Backside 50-50 on transition is one of the first tricks that most skaters learn. Begin with more speed than you need to simply perform a stall. When you approach the coping turn slightly so you will be at an angle, this will allow you to ride the coping. The more momentum you have the further you will be able to go before dropping back in with the kickturn.
The Frontside 50-50 can be very intimidating for many skaters because your back is facing down the transition. However, once you get over this fear you will be amazed at all the tricks you will be able to accomplish. Gain momentum and go straight up the transition. When you near the coping turn because, instead of your heel edge wheel you want the toe edge wheel of the back truck to hook as far as possible over the coping. Begin with the back truck first and then set down on your front truck. You need to keep your weight mainly on the toe side of your skateboard.
To do a Frontside 5-0 transition you must get on top of the coping and scrape some metal. Get up as much speed as possible, turn putting your body weight to the front then lock your back truck onto the coping. After some practice and learning how to keep your balance you got it made.
The Ollie will be the next trick that you need to learn followed by the kickflip and the kickflip nose manual. As you may have noticed learning one trick will help you accomplish the next one. For instance, knowing how to do the Ollie will help you accomplish the kickflip, which in turn helps you learn the kickflip nose manual. Take your time and learn one trick at a time. Before you know it, you will be a skating pro that knows all the tricks and tips to success.

Fishing With Children: By Garvin Douglas
17/09/2007 by admin.
If you have children then you will no doubt want to share as many activities with them as possible. One which teaches children quite a few useful life lessons and can develop into a lifelong passion for them is fishing.
When you are fishing with children one of the most important considerations is safety. You need to assess what kind of fishing you are going to be doing. There are so many different variations of fishing options, and you need to make sure you select one that is suitable for the children you will be bringing along.
Regardless of how strong a swimmer your children may be, they must use life jackets. Additionally, it is imperative that you have a first aid kit with you. We all know, after all, how easy it is for children to become scratched or cut by hooks and other parts of fishing gear.
Get your children their own personal fishing tackle boxes. This will not only make them feel as though they are in charge of their own equipment, but you will be able to obtain a children’s version of equipment for them to use.
You don’t have to spend too much with this. Simply purchase a few essentials to start with, and as their interest grows, they can decide what they would like to add to their collection.
After you have shown your children how to land their fish by initially playing with it, let them take over. As long as you are on hand to help out as needed, they will love the freedom of being able to battle with fish by themselves and feel quite proud when they reel in their first catch all by themselves.
It is normally best to introduce a children to fishing early in life. This is useful in many ways. The younger children begin, the more they will take in - although never take a child who is too young to understand what is going on. Early life experiences also provide children the opportunity to see the how fish are cleaned and realize that this is not a disgusting practice but rather part of the fishing trip experience. You can also let your children learn as you go concerning the rules of fishing. Doing this will help keep fishing fresh in their minds.
You can never be completely sure that your children will take to fishing as there many factors that could detract from their attention. Your initial trip out on the water could be a slow day and you might not even get a bite, let alone haul anything into the boat. This could result in your children becoming bored. If this happens don’t loose heart. Let your children know that this not unusual when fishing. You never know, you could turn their initial disappointment into a plus as your children may become more excited about finally catching a fish next time.
Children love to feel as though are in charge of doing almost anything, and fishing is ideal for this. Fishing is a great learning adventure, and doing this together should prove to be a wonderful experience.

Rock Climbing - Technique Versus Power: by Michael M Ward
12/09/2007 by admin.
It’s one of the classic rock climbing questions. If I want to improve, should I get better technique or should I get stronger? For beginners, the answer is simple. Improve your technique. The best way to do this is to climb in as many locations as possible – indoors, outdoors, on different types of rock, such as limestone, sandstone and granite. See what works for you and what works for other people. Watch other climbers. Watch better climbers. Did they make a move the same way that you made it? Were they more fluid? Did they pull through smoothly, where you grunted and struggled?
In rock climbing, there are some interesting gender differences. Many men, especially beginners, will use their strength to try to grab and pull their way up. By contrast, many women will adopt more graceful techniques, utilising suppleness and deft footwork. Naturally there are exceptions, but women tend to have better technique. However if you watch a really good climber (especially a French one!), it will matter little whether they’re male or female. They will probably be extremely powerful. They will, almost certainly, have beautiful technique. At grades below their limit, they will seem to glide up the rock.
In climbing, people often talk about strength. But we’re not weightlifters or bodybuilders. Strength isn’t as important as power. We’re not holding a weight. We’re moving a weight - our body. Many hard climbs call for explosive gymnastic power. For most people, this won’t come overnight. You have to train for it.
Technique or power? For rock climbers operating at up to about E1 or 5.10, my advice is to improve your technique. Good technique is an invaluable investment. It will reap rewards over your entire climbing career. If you want to go beyond these grades, especially on steep rock, then yes, it’s worth improving your power – carefully! Get technique first, then power.

How To Be Good At Boxing: By Leeman Taylor
12/09/2007 by admin.
When I was about ten years old I joined this boxing gym in my hometown and started boxing. I trained everyday after school and ran to the gym. After about a couple of months of training I entered my first boxing match that I won. I was very nervous but I did pretty well. I was surprised to be fighting so fast because some boxers were at the gym for years and never had one single fight. I guess I learned pretty fast.
I think the reason the others did fight as soon as I did was because they either did train everyday or did pick the techniques as well as I did. To become a good boxer you have to go thought lots of training and have a heart of a true champion. I will share with you some of the thing I did to win the state championship twice, the junior olympics, the sunshine state games. and made the news and the newspaper twice.
First of all, I had made a promise to myself that I would go the gym everyday and train as hard as I could. I ran to the gym everyday, which was about a mile, and ran back home. I never skipped practice and I was there on time. The thing about the boxing sport is that you have to have lots of stamina because unlike other sports you are on your own and you don’t get any substitutions. So you have to last all those rounds.
Second, you have to eat right and make sure you stay in shape. You can’t just go around eating junk food and thinking you still will perform well in the ring. When you have a fight coming up you have to eat the right foods and keep the pounds off otherwise you will not make the weight ins. Staying focused is another good boxing tips. I know that when a boxing match comes you can very anxious of nervous but staying focused is the key to train well in the ring.
Third, practice , practice, practice! As the old saying goes “practice make perfect”. The more you practice the better you will get. Serious boxers do not slack off and they are always in the gym. If you want to become a good professional boxer you have to train hard everyday and stay focused. I spend at least two hours in the gym everyday jump roping, sparing, speed bag, heavy bag, and double end bag. I aslo shawdow box to see how I look in the ring. So always remember to practice.
If you keep these simple things in mind then you are on your way to becoming a great boxer of even the next champ.

Basketball Secret Key To Success: By Rali Todd
06/09/2007 by admin.

It’s simple and It’s Basic, your number # 1 secret of success will always be knowing your “Niche” and using it to separate yourself form every other Baller out there…
This is the most over-looked art of figuring out what your coach really needs and developing an Identity on the court.
What is a Niche?
I’m Glad you asked!
Your niche is how you are different from everyone else. It is the one aspect that you are great at, not good at, but great at.
It is the one thing that will get you on a team, or get you cut off of a team. This should be common sense for all Ballers, and yet it will be your secret weapon. Because most of your competition will forever ignore the fundamentals of Defining a Niche, or screw it up (since they’ve never bothered to pay attention to the lessons).
It’s relatively easy to perform a play or move that gets a coach to say “Hey, that ballers pretty good”. But that doesn’t mean they will pick you to be on their team or pursue you to play for them.
No. You want your prospect Coach to say — after experiencing watching you play — “Wow! That’s Exactly what I need on my team, How do I get them to consider playing for me?”
But getting a coach to be Jaw Dropped and begging you to play for them is a much more complex process. You don’t have to understand the biology or chemistry that goes on… but you DO have to realize that dominating the hardwood requires a lot of knowledge and a little skill.
It’s not difficult. But it’s not something most people naturally learn to do. There are a few key secrets to Identifying A Niche that — once you master them — will guarantee that EVERY Time you step on the court every coach and player will be astonished and you will start leaving your dominating trail of legacy along the way.
That’s how the greats are formed. First by identifying their niche and then by working to master their niche. Most Ballers Play From their Heels… meaning they blow it when it comes to Discovering what aspect of the game they are dominate at. They stumble along the way guessing how to develop their game and normally find them selves in a dark hole with no way to get out.
The Baller Graveyard is crammed with great talented ballers that failed to identify and work on their niche.
However, when you master the basics of Developing a Niche and continually working to master your niche, you will start to see and feel the benefits that come with being a “unique” Hot-Ticket ball player.
Whatever results you’re getting will instantly be multiplied many times, as soon as you apply the secrets of Niche Discovering
If you look at any of the Dominating Forces in the pros you will find that it is easy to identify their niche:
Reggie Miller- Shooting Bruce Bowen- Defense Steven Nash- passing and play making Tracy Mcgrady- Scoring Shaq- Post Dominating Ben Wallace- Rebounding
And the list goes on and on…
They discovered their Niche and developed a plan to master it, not just to be good at it but to be great at it.
So how do you figure out what’s your Gold key Niche?
Easy, ask yourself what do you think you are the best at, what important aspect of basketball do you always do well, or tend to be better then others at.
It would also be a great idea if you asked your coach, parents, teammates and other players that do not personally know you but have seen you play before. It is also very important to receive honest opinions, and you should not ask someone you believe who falsely tell you something just to, please you, get the truth.
If you have a identified niche you will be that much more dominate and coaches would much rather recruit a player that performs a certain task very well likr passing then trying to recruit a player that they will have to develop those certain skill they are looking for.
Now once you have identified your niche, you have found a pot of gold, an you will be 100 steps ahead of your competition.
You see, if you do not have a niche, and really do not understand what kind of a player you are or what you do very well, you will just confuse all the coaches and recruits that are interested in you.
The most common mistake that I have seen with lack of niche identification normally happens with guards…
You know what I am talking about, that guard that you see but you really do not know if he is a point guard or a shooting guard, it’s like he is stuck in the middle.
And if you are stuck in the middle, you are not going any where. Allen Iverson is a perfect example, he was having problems figuring out what kind of player he was, and his game struggled, but once he committed to being a two guard, his game flourished and he become an NBA ALL-STAR.
So determine your niche and commit to mastering it, whatever it is, it might be scoring, shooting, rebounding, defense, passing, play making or even teammate support…
If you do not have a niche, get one or you will never get to the next level. Find out for yourself why so many top Pro ballers give me Credit and hide me away as their secret weapon for their wealth and fame.
