A place to find the best car racing games on the net By: James English
26/02/2007 by admin.
 Car racing games have always been a favorite for everyone ever since video games were invented. From the 80’s arcades to the console systems, there’s no denying their popularity. The different styles of car racing games have varied throughout the decade. Life-like racing games have been a hit and so have cartoonish racing games. The general goal of most car racing games is to win by going faster than your opponents and crossing the finish line. All in all, car racing games have a huge following and developers are building different styles to suit almost everyone.
F1 & Nascar
F1 and NASCAR are huge names in car racing. It’s not a surprise that game developers would sign deals to create games for these sports. F1 and NAsCAR racing games are not geared towards the people that want to personalize their virtual cars more with decals, rims, and other exterior designs.
Drag Racing
With the popularity of The Fast & The Furious movies and the general popularity of the drag racing scene, there’s no doubt drag racing games would become popular. Although drag racing mode may come packaged along with other racing games, it is still something that many enjoy playing as it does not require much concentration and focus because of the fact that it’s a straight race.
4×4 Rally
Off-road car racing games are also something that has a big following. The fact that you must be able to maneuver your vehicle in more difficult settings than on a track creates a challenge for gamers.
To sum this up, no matter what type of racing, there is most likely a game created specifically for it. And as you may have probably guessed, with the Internet being something that is used daily by most people, Flash-based car racing games are all over arcade websites such as carracinggame.net

Understanding The Importance Of Weight Training By Douglas Taylor
26/02/2007 by admin.
 Most people you will need to add exercise into their weight loss plans if they have any desire to succeed. It is really hard for some folks to lose any significant amount of weight if they do not exercise and it is really important to add the right kind of exercise if you want to see the best results. The importance of weight training in this process is often not understood.
It seems like everyone starts out doing cardio type exercises. These are fantastic for getting your heart beating and burning lots of calories. However you will need to build your muscles mass up if you would like to keep those calories coming off even after you stop your exercise routine for the day. This is one reason working out with weights will put your weight loss goals into overdrive.
One pound of muscle mass added to your body can burn up to 50 extra calories each and every day. This keeps on working even when you are sitting at your desk. Can you picture the possibilities if you took off five pounds of fat and replaced this with pure muscle?
When you are on a diet you will lose muscle mass along with any fat you lose. This may cause your metabolism to slow down somewhat and you may find the pounds not coming off as fast as you would like. However by building your muscle mass up you are more likely to keep burning the calories faster. This may help you lose weight down the road.
Doing cardio exercises like running, riding a bike or taking a swim can burn a lot of calories in a short period of time, but this will slow down after you are through with your routine. This type of exercise may build your muscle mass somewhat but doing something like lifting weights will increase the mass building more quickly.
Lifting weights will burn away the fat during your workout and will continue to do so after you have stopped exercising for the day. As you build up your endurance and can lift heavier weights you will burn more calories. The stronger you become the quicker those fat reserves will go away.
You need to be careful to start slowly and not move too fast when you start lifting weights. Lifting too much weight too fast can do more harm then good. It would be wise to seek someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in weight lifting to help you out when you first start.
Weight training should not replace your cardio program. If you want the best results try mixing the two together. This should give you the positive benefits of both types of exercise. Once you understand the importance of weight training your weight loss goals should come faster.

Surprise Your Recipient With A Unique Gift By: Thomson Chemmanoor
25/02/2007 by admin.
 If you intend to gift something unique to the married couple, you could consider choosing a unique honeymoon package from any travel agency. You could include air tickets and hotel accommodation in the package. This is the best choice for those very close to you and whom you think highly of in your life. However, if this choice is way over your budget, then you could consider gifting some jewelry item made of gold or diamond. This will surely make the recipient feel really flabbergasted at the unique gift presented to them!
If you plan to present something for a housewarming ceremony, then you could choose lots of gifts depending on your budget and connection with the recipient. You could present some house decorating accessory like a beautiful sofa, table and sofa covers, wall curtains and other accessories to match the design of the rooms. You could also consider presenting some crockery, items needed for cooking and kitchenware.
If you share a close relation with the recipient, you could consider selecting electronic items like a washing machine, CD or DVD player, refrigerator, TV, kitchen grill and any other electrical item you feel the recipient will like and need. However, it is not everyone who can afford to present all these electronic items, you could instead think of something less expensive like indoor plants, candle holders, CD stacks or Feng Shui articles.
If all these items don’t make you feel that they are unique for gifting, you could consider creating something of your own for your recipient. Like you could create a unique gift basket with all the things the recipient enjoys found in the gift basket. Or instead, you could get one of the many gift certificates shops and shopping centers offer today. With a gift certificate, the recipient can buy whatever is preferred using the gift coupon in the respective shops. You could also create a personalized card, expressing your feelings for the recipient along with a general gift. It is the wordings and the card that will express your feelings and make the person feel unique for the gift that you gift them.
You can always look out for unique gifts either on the Internet, or somewhere around you. It all depends on your idea of a unique gift, and the recipient, and of course, the occasion.

How to Find an Ideal Birthday Gift By: Kristi Paisley
25/02/2007 by admin.
 Are you perplexed trying to pick out the ideal gift for a love one’s birthday? Finding the right birthday gift can be stressful if the receiver already seems to have just about everything. Although almost anything you give will be loved, the best way to find the right present is to think about the likes and interests of the person.
Once you begin thinking about the receiver’s hobbies and interests, it will ease the experience. To illustrate, if the receiver loves reading, get them a gift card at a local book store. Choose a present that is relevant to the receiver’s interests, passions and ambitions will tell them you spent some time thinking about them. This might mean more than the gift itself.
If all else fails, there are basic gender gifts that work almost anytime. Women take pleasure in perfume, jewelry and pampering. A relaxing break from the stresses of life at a local spa will please almost any woman. Chocolates and flowers are fine, but she may think you lack creativity. Purchasing gifts for a man can be especially puzzling. You can best win over a man by aligning the birthday present with his hobbies. Men also like gadgets. Opting for the hotest gadget will appeal to most men.
Other presents for your consideration:
- Monthly gift packages - this type of gift includes a monthly shipment of fruits, beer, cakes, or other items.
- Cooking, woodworking or dance classes - focus on something they keep wanting to learn but never seem to take the time.
- Tickets to a nascar event - when aligned with the persons personality these can be a very unique and special gift.
- Books win over almost everyone - align with their hobbies, interests or something they have always wanted to learn.
- Personalized furniture and accessories - including jewelry, picture frames, pens or other decor.
For additional research, don’t forget to surf the internet. Finding present ideas on the internet is easy. If your birthday person is an avid golfer, type “golf gifts” or “golf gift ideas” into your favorite keyword engine. This will render an abundance of websites that specialize in such birthday gifts. Once you find the perfect gift, purchasing it online is straightforward and safe. Online present purchasing is also the best way to send birthday gifts to those who do not live in close proximity and can be a real time saver.
Birthday gifts should be individual. Spend a little time trying to find the right birthday present that aligns with the receiver’s personality. This will not only make the gift appealling, but tell them you really care. After all, that is what gift giving is really about.d the right birthday present that aligns with the receiver’s personality. This will not only make the gift appealling, but tell them you really care. After all, that is what gift giving is really about.

King of Pop to Appear at WMAs by: chris nelson
25/02/2007 by admin.
 LONDON - Michael Jackson is set to make a rare public appearance at the World Music Awards in London, organizers recently announced.
Having sold more than 100 million albums, the forlorn king of pop will receive a Diamond Award at the industry ceremony.
WMA founder Melissa Corken said “We are thrilled to be bringing the World Music Awards to London, the music capital of the world,” quickly adding “the presence of Michael Jackson is very exciting for us.”
Jackson went into reclusion after his acquittal from child molestation charges in June of last year. He left the United States soon after and has spent time in Bahrain and Ireland.
The World Music Awards were held in Monaco for 15 years before moving to the United States in 2004 and 2005. This year’s event at London’s Earls Court Arena is to be hosted by Lindsay Lohan, with performances from Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Katie Melua and Andrea Bocelli.
Previous recipients of the Diamond Award include Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.
The World Music Awards was founded in 1989 as an international awards show that annually honors recording artists based on their popularity, and worldwide sales figures, which are provided by the various organizations including record companies and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
The awards show is conducted under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco, Monte Carlo. Until 2003 the show was conducted in Monte Carlo.
The 2004 show was held in Las Vegas (USA) on September 15. The 2005 show was held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California with simultaneous broadcasts to North and South America, Australia, Japan and South East Asia, all of mainland China, New Zealand, all of Africa and the Middle East, and all of Europe, reaching an estimated worldwide audience of one billion viewers, in over 160 countries.
John Martinotti is an executive producer and co-founder of the show.
Proceeds from the show go to the Monaco Aide and Presence Foundation, which assist underdeveloped areas mainly in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Brazil.
The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) televised the show in the US on September 13, 2005 with featured appearances by many American and Latino pp stars such as Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana, Rob Thomas, Michelle Branch, Stevie Wonder, Kid Rock, Eminem, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg.
Last year’s show also featured Patti LaBelle, Kid Rock, and Stevie Wonder performing songs dedicated to honoring the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Based on the WMA website, “The World’s best-selling recording-artists in the various categories are determined after a thorough research conducted by the organization on record certifications and record company sales figures”
The national member associations of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is the organization that provides the World music organization with the names of their overall best-selling artists and groups.
Each year, the WMS awards the best selling artist from each major country.
Legend Awards are given to artists “in recognition of their global success and outstanding contribution to the music industry”. Past winners include Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Modern Talking, Ace of Base, Diana Ross, Julio Iglesias, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Ray Charles, Cher, Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Whitney Houston, Prince, Janet Jackson, Carlos Santana and Rock Bond Scorpions.
The Chopard Diamond World Music Award is a new award, given to artists who have sold over 100 million albums over the course of their careers. Past winners are Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Bon Jovi.
Apart from the world’s best-selling artists in the various categories and the national best-selling artists, special millennium awards for the world’s best selling recording artist of all time were presented in 2000 to Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey in the male and female categories respectively.
To date, Mariah Carey has received 16 World Music Awards, the most WMAs for any recording artist, followed closely by Michael Jackson with 14 awards.

Acne: A Skin Condition Common Among Teenagers by: Morgan Ulrich
25/02/2007 by admin.
 Acne is a skin condition that many individuals have. Despite the fact that individuals of all ages can develop this common skin condition, there is one group of individuals who are more likely to develop it. That group is teenagers. Teenagers are more at risk for acne, especially when they begin to hit puberty. For that reason, there is a good chance that you may be the parent of a teenager who has an acne problem, whether that problem is large or small.
If you haven’t already noticed, times have changed. Unfortunately, this has led to appearance concerns among many teenagers. Although you might not necessarily think that acne is a big deal, it may be to your child. That is why it is extremely important that you talk to your child about their acne, especially if they have a severe case of it. Acne may go away on its own, but it might not. If your child constantly has problems with acne, it may be a good idea to schedule a visit with a healthcare professional.
When seeking treatment for your child’s acne problem, you will likely find that you have a number of different professional options. Most primary care physicians, also commonly referred to as family physicians, should be able to treat acne. This treatment will often include an over-the-counter medication or a prescription medication. The type of action taken will likely depend on how severe your child’s acne problem is. In addition to their primary care physician, you may also want to take your child to see a dermatologist. A dermatologist is a medical professional who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions.
Aside from being prescribed medications or given another treatment plan, you and your teenager will likely learn more about acne. Your healthcare provider, whether it is your primary care physician or a dermatologist, should provide you with information on acne. This information should not only include how to treat it, but how to manage acne outbreaks, as well as how to prevent them. Although this important information should automatically be explained to you, it might not be. When it comes to treating acne, it is important to learn more about it; therefore, if it is not automatically explained, you need to ask.
Regardless of which type of medical professional you are speaking with, a primary care physician or a dermatologist, you will likely learn, as mentioned above, that acne is not uncommon in teenagers. It fact, it has been stated that over half of all teenagers will develop a problem with acne, at one time or another. You may also learn that acne not only includes zits, but it also includes blackheads and whiteheads. You should also learn how and why acne develops. It is even possible that your healthcare physician may have also determined an exact cause for your child’s acne problem, such as unclean skin, clogged pores, or greasy health and beauty products.
As you can easily see, you and your child can learn a lot by meeting with a healthcare worker. Despite the fact that you are advised to seek professional assistance, it may not be possible. Whether you are without insurance or you cannot afford a doctor’s visit, your child does not have to suffer from acne. There are a number of over-the-counter medications that may be able to help reduce or completely eliminate the number of blackheads, whiteheads, or pimples that your teenager has. While prescription medications may work more effectively and quicker, over-the-counter medications are great alternatives. These relatively low-cost medications can be purchased from most department stores, drug stores, or grocery stores. The amount of time it takes for your child’s acne to clear up, if it even clears up at all, will all depend on what type of product you are using.
Since acne is relatively easy to treat, at least from your standpoint, you are advised to take action. Whether your teenager complains about their acne or if you think a problem may be in the process of developing, you are advised to get them the help that they need. Whether that help comes from a medical professional or an over-the-counter medication, your teenager will likely be please that action was initiated.

Where To Find Best Arcade Games by: Jake Jenkins
25/02/2007 by admin.
 Arcade games, historically, emerged as early as the late 1920’s where you could find theme parks which combined mechanical form of gaming machines and a great fun atmosphere. This was the beginning of modern gaming. The first video game machines appeared in the and were mainly coin-operated. To play the game, you sloted in your coin or token and when that run out the game ended. You then had to purchase further tokens if so desired. Now, most video game machines use solid state electronics to operate. Scores and bonuses are all electronically controlled.
Atari, which started in 1972, was now dominating the market with popular arcade games such as Pong (electronic version Ping Pong), Pacman, Space Invaders, Battlezone, Donkey Kong and the Galaxian. Video arcade games started appearing everywhere including shopping centers, public houses such as bars, supermarkets, college dormitories, bowling alleys and dedicated amusement parks. However, with video arcade games located in seedy places like casinos and gambling houses, their reputation waned. The sales of arcade games further took a hit with the advent of home video game consoles in the early nineties. People rather preferred to buy or rent out the exact games they used to play in these amusement parks and enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes.
With this decline in fortunes, dedicated arcade games businesses started to suffer and many had to close down or diversify. Diversification involved offering other attractions such as rides with arcade games being only a small part of the business and at least offering arcade lovers to still indulge in their passion. Most of these centers are so different, they are no longer what they used to be.
Playing arcade games is now even easier. With most dedicated venues closed due to advances in the gaming console technology and the internet, you do not need to uproot yourself and find a physical venue. If you are into gaming consoles, all you need is to buy or rent your game and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home. On the other hand, if you wish to play free arcade games with a bit of social interaction, you can choose from many internet gaming platforms where you can play as well as chat or interact with other game lovers in the forums.
In spite of the many milestones arcade games have come, the basic essence of the “arcade” is still present in most modern games. Most arcade games offer the game lover different levels of play, starting with the easiest. Once that level has been mastered or maximum points have been scored, you are allowed to move to the next level. Each higher level is progressively more difficult. You stay in the game if you stay “alive” or your “virtual” tokens get finished. Obviously, physical tokens are not needed for online arcade games but the general theme is always present. Newer games such as Street Fighter I and King Fighters offer a two player game mode which futher enhances the gamers experience.
Arcade games have survived, mainly because they are so addictive and they offer a good recreation time for kid, teens and adults alike and they are likely to be with us for a long time to come.

Dog Artists - David Hockney, William Wegman, and George Rodrigue By: Melanie Light
23/02/2007 by admin.
Copyright 2006 Melanie Light
 Although contemporary art has moved beyond the Pop art of yesteryear, the most influential artists of the latter twentieth century have taken bold steps to include dog art as a central theme in their artistic endeavors. David Hockney, William Wegman, and George Rodrique, all still alive today, have not arbitrarily juxtaposed canines in their works but have put their furry friends on center stage – to soak up the limelight, offering the art world new glimpse of man’s best friend.
David Hockney (1937), who was born in Bradford England, spent the better half of his life in Los Angeles, California. Believed to be one of the forerunners of Pop art of the 1960s, with works such as We two Boys Together Clinging (1961) and A Bigger Splash (1967), his work influenced thousands of artists worldwide.
At the age of eleven, Hockney knew that he wanted to be an artist. No one is certain if he had any inspiration to include animals, specifically dogs, in his works, but it is known that he was willing to experiment beyond regular artistic parameters even when he arrived to the Royal College of Art in London in 1959. Hockney recollects that “the adventurous, lively students, the brightest ones,” were dousing themselves in “Abstract Expressionist paintings on hardboard.”(1)
Obviously etched in Hockney’s mind was that art could be something different, especially if it was unconventional. In his later works, we see Hockney’s two Dachshunds, Stanley and Boodgie, in a string of paintings and drawings. “The dogs are my little friends,” he says in an interview with Richard Natale in 1998 about his new book, David Hockney’s Dog Days. “It was probably my wanting a tender, loving subject.” Hockney goes on to rebuttal the art world that may not accept dog art stating, “I make no apologies for the apparent subject matter. These two dear little creatures are my friends. They are intelligent, loving, comical, and often bored. They watch me work; I notice the warm shapes they make together, their sadness and their delights.”(2)
Unlike Hockney who began dabbling in dog art later in his career, William Wegman has been daunting and confronting the parameters of mainstream art for years with his depictions of Weimaraners in artistic venues. Noted for his peculiar depictions that can border outlandish humor, Wegman has been known to be just too ‘dog-on’ funny.
After earning an MFA from the University of Illinois, Wegman taught for a while; he searched for a way to make his art ‘unleash’ his creativity on the public. While experimenting with photography and video, Wegman purposely took the remnants of Pop art to a level that mirrored and even mocked Americana.
His first Weimaraner was named Man Ray and was used in Wegman’s work in both video and photography. Man Ray was so famous that the Village Voice named him “Man of the Year” in 1982.(3) With the use of a massive Polaroid camera, Wegman took varied photographs of his Weimaraner in an array of poses and assorted guises. Later, Wegman’s second Weimaraner named Fay Ray appeared on Sesame Street as Old McFay. Wegman himself has appeared on-air with Johnny Carson, David Letterman, and on Saturday Night Live.
Similar to both David Hockney and William Wegman, George Rodrigue used dog art to exemplify his feelings about man’s truest comrade. As Wegman used his own Weimaraners in his creations, so did Rodrique use the muse provided by his childhood companion named Tiffany – who was transformed into the famed Blue Dog.
George Rodrigue, born and raised in Louisiana, began painting Blue Dog in tribute to his black and white terrier after her death in 1980. As it happened, Blue Dog eerily represented the Loup-Garou, or a Cajun werewolf in many of Rodrigue’s depictions.(4) Blue Dog soon gained international recognition as an inveterate legend, especially in the earlier 1990s.
Working as a graphic artist, Rodrigue explored the use of silk-screen with Blue Dog, which allowed the image to appear crisp, clean, and stark. Both famous public figures and private art collectors have purchased Rodrigue’s works. Absolut Vodka and Xerox even commissioned the artist to do ad campaigns. In the book entitled Blue Dog (Viking/Penguin 1994), Rodrigue depicts the change of Tiffany into this relished pop icon.
David Hockney, William Wegman, and George Rodrigue have all used dogs as a focal point, which shows that dog art is a powerful medium of expression that not only captures the art world, but mainstream art lovers as well. Through the Pop movement of the 1960s and contemporary art circles worldwide, these artists have used their pets as heartfelt muses that captivate and bring wonder even to the most stringent of critics.

Get started with Oil Painting Today By: Vijay
23/02/2007 by admin.
 A Quick Introduction to Oil Painting Models You will need:
Brushes
Turpentine
Palette
Oil Medium
Paints
Brushes - Good quality sable brushes. Don’t withhold on the quality here. Brushes would last longer with Oil paints than any other medium if you take good care of it.
Modern synthetic brushes could be even more excellent in quality, so don’t restrict your self in choosing only those brushes that are made from natural hairs such as sable. Look for painting brushes where the hairs swiftly spring back up when you bend them. Be careful about cleaning your painting brushes as if acrylic paint dries in a brush, it could be extremely difficult to clean it up.
Turpentine - Turpentine is used for lessening and cleaning brushes.
Palette A palette is a surface on which a painter mixes it colour pigments. A palette might be made of wood, glass, plastic, ceramic tile or even inert material and could vary highly in size and shape. The most usually known type of painter’s palette is made of thin wood board designed to be held in the artist’s hand and rest on the artist’s arm.
Oil Medium - These would speed up the process of drying the paints and also give slight gloss sheen. Turpentine could be used with some of the same effect.
Paints - It is suggested to use “Artist’s” oils. These are the top quality available in any variety with better pigmentation and permanence. Tubes come in different sizes but oils have good covering skill and would even last a long time.
Opacity - Sometimes marked on the tube, opacity shows how transparent the oil is. Red/Yellows are commonly the least opaque.
Permanence - Usually marked on a scale of 1 to 4 (often marked in stars), 4 being most enduring, and (longest lasting).
Hue - Could be exactly described as the Shade of the colour. Can sometimes relate to Opacity
Oil Painting: Making it Simple
Oil painting is simple, far simpler than drawing or even watercolor painting. If you could see something, you could paint it in oils. To create something memorable, however, you need to:
1. Formulate what you hope to attain, and plan a workable way to that objective.
2. Research the market if you desire to sell the work.
3. Approach the painting process in rational steps, which generally entail:
* Drawings to examine compositional possibilities.
* Blockedout charcoal/pencil/oil sketches to place tonal value
* Oil sketches to trial with various color schemes and harmonies.
* Preparing canvas and paint for the probable tasks.
* Varnishing, framing and hanging the work.
